#104: The spring break edit
Resort season outfits and a kickstart into the new season
I have a running joke that I don’t know how to dress unless the temperature is 30°C/80°F. Some of the best-dressed people I know say true personal style materializes during the fall/winter months because layering on your sartorial armor lets you get crafty and creative. They’re not wrong. But as a true Cancer born in high summer, there’s nothing I love more than the heat and knowing that my dressing never has to factor in any sort of consideration for warmth—no armor, no insulation, just instinct.
I was very lucky to return to one of my favorite little corners of the world, Belmond’s Riviera Maya property Maroma, for a little spring break. Sargassum chronicles aside (very scary and sad to see the material effects of climate change), it is still, to me, my idea of a perfect property. A spring break trip always gets me excited for the season ahead and while beach attire is entirely its own genre of dressing, I’m so excited to dress for warmer days in the city. A trip like this always brings me back to reliance on pleasure and feeling, which is how I approach warm weather dressing in general. A bikini top or bra as a top (or even just exposed if you’re in the city) is my ideal default setting.
My trusty Octobuddy allowed me to create some fun video-turned-screenshot outfit photos to live on here for today’s no-frills newsletter. April’s issue of How to be devastatingly hot and cool is a’coming! Enjoy!

I look forward to it being warm enough (and for good) to not have to keep saying, “warmer days ahead”…
